Volleyball Wins Consolation Crown at West Palm Beach

The Spring Hill College volleyball team won three matches on Saturday afternoon to take the Consolation Round title at the West Palm Beach Invitational hosted by Northwood University in Florida. Junior outside hitter Rachel Williams of Church Point, La., was also selected as a member of the All-Tournament team.
Following Friday’s disappointing two-loss performance on the tournament’s opening day, the Lady Badgers found their focus on Day Two and swept all nine games of the three matches they played. Beginning at noon, Spring Hill defeated Florida College 30-24, 30-19 and 30-15. At 2 p.m. they faced Southeastern University (Fla.) and triumphed 30-21, 30-21 and 30-23.
In the Consolation Round Championship match at 4 p.m. they would once again face Southeastern where they were again victorious 30-24, 30-24 and 30-27. “It was a difficult challenge to come back and win three back-to-back matches,” said Head Coach Beth Ring, “but our ladies were up to the task.”
Spring Hill (7-11, 2-2) returns to conference play on Tuesday in New Orleans versus Loyola University (10-7, 2-2). Earlier this season, the Lady Badgers defeated the Lady Wolfpack 30-25, 30-23 and 30-22 in Mobile.
