Schmidt, Phillips Named All GCAC

Spring Hill College volleyball setter Lindsey Schmidt of Midlothian, Ill., and middle blocker Kristen Phillips of St. Louis, Mo., were named to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference’s 2007 All-Conference team as selected by the conference coaches.

Schmidt, a senior, appears on the squad for the second consecutive season and recorded 1,011 assists on offense and 404 defensive digs for the year.  She also added 49 blocks and 207 points including 36 service aces.

Phillips, also a senior, makes her first appearance on the All-GCAC roster while tallying 367 kills and 42 aces for a total of 409 points over 34 matches this season.  On defense, she notched 378 digs and a team high 103 blocks.

The Lady Badgers finished 2007 with a 17-17 record under first year head coach Beth Ring, marking a 10-game improvement over the 2006 season.
